About

My name is Michael Tucker and I am very excited and inspired by the possibilities social entrepreneurship creates for us as members of the human race. I am a veteran, business owner XtremeBusinessInternational.com, husband and most importantly a social entrepreneur.
While completing my Master’s in Human Relations from the University of Oklahoma I came across the term “Social Entrepreneur.” I had never heard of this word before but it seems as if I had been practicing the concept for most of my life.
What is a Social Entrepreneur? A Social Entrepreneur is anyone who chooses to use business concepts to solve social problems facing ones community and the world. Now this might sound a lot like non-profit work and in some cases it can be. However, it does not have to be. It is perfectly acceptable for a social entrepreneur to position him or herself to earn a profit from the solutions they develop.
I believe not only is it possible to do good and get paid for it. I believe this should be the standard. This creates a win-win arrangement. For far too long people have been taught that the interest of the “non-profit sector” and “business world” are conflicting. I totally disagree with this. I don’t think that just because you care about people and you want to make a difference you should be monetarily penalized.
And…I certianly don’t believe it is in some way holy or moral to just get by and live a minimal lifestyle…This is OK if if it works for you but that is not our philosophy.
The reason I designed this blog was to expand the conversation regarding social entrepreneurship and let people know that you can make a substantial living doing good and you don’t have to be ashamed of it.
I look forward to your feedback.
All the best,
Michael Tucker
